Freaky Dyes

Freaky Dyes. Beautiful, weird, fun, totally hand dyed t-shirts and other items. 

All our one-of-a-kind tie-dye pieces go through a pre-dying process of machine wash and dry to rid the item of any factory dust as well as shrink the fabric. We then soak the item in a mixture of soda ash and water.

We tie the item into the desired pattern and once tied and secured with rubberbands, sinew or kite string, it is colored with dyes from Dharma Trading Company. Dharma dyes are "cold water dyes for natural fibers" and come in powder form. We mix the powder in cold water for liquid dyes or use ice, in place of water, over the dry powder to create our ice dye patterns. 

We allow the item to rest in dye for 24 hours. Once resting is complete, the item is carefully undone, we rinse it in cool water until the water runs nearly clear, and finish by machine washing and drying the item.

Finally, the item is ironed, tagged, photographed, cataloged, and posted. Ready for you to enjoy. 

We find the end result to have rich, vibrant, and happy colors and they stay brilliant with regular wear and washing.

We recommend machine washing the item with like colors in cold water, with your favorite detergent. The use of color safe bleach and fabric softener is okay.
